When you visit our dental office for a dental crown, here are the steps we’ll follow:
- Consultation and evaluation — We’ll perform a thorough examination and take x-rays. Once we determine a dental crown is the best option, we’ll form a treatment plan. Before we take the next step, we’ll put your mind at ease and answer any questions.
- Tooth preparation — To make room for your new crown, we’ll reshape your tooth, and if you have a cavity, we’ll remove any decay and place a dental filling.
- Impressions and temporary crown — Using our intraoral camera, we’ll capture digital impressions and send them to the dental lab. They’ll use these images to create your custom crown. To protect your tooth, we’ll place a temporary crown until your permanent crown is ready.
- Crown fabrication — The dental lab will customize your crown to match your other teeth. It will be the same size, shape, and color; this usually takes about two weeks.
